Marian Pruijn's work takes the viewer into the intimacy of a captured moment.
The human figure, often a child, seems to come from times gone by, but at the same time from undefined times . What strikes is an attitude, a gesture, a being together, an expression that touches on our universal communication. Precisely because the detail is often left out and the color palette is sober, a certain anonymity is created; this anonymity touches the universal in what connects us as humans. The human figures and portraits express a longing for connection and the vulnerability that lies within.
The power of the images seems to be in the reduction. Omitting to the very point that the image still speaks to you without being distracting.
